September 6: Rajshree Pathy, President at Rajshree Sugars, says the weak rupee has generated some demand for sugar in countries such as Somalia, Ethiopia, Sri Lanka and Middle East. “However, these countries have large stocks, which need to be cleared before we can increase our exports in order to stabilise domestic prices and clear our stockpiles,” she says. Global sugar prices will remain weak amid robust supply, she adds.
